Effects of various objects at the entrance.

1. When the approach road to a plot has a dead-end against the plot or building on the plot, the owner faces total destruction.

2. If there is a tree in front of the entrance of a house or plot, the children of that particular house experience a lot of problems or even totally perish.

3. A well in front of the main door of the house causes epoleptical effects.

4. A stream of filthy water in front of the house results in loss of wealth.

5. A column or pillar will cause health problems to the ladies.

6. A presence of a temple or place of worship in front of the house can result in total annihilation.

7. If a road, tree, well, place of worship or column is sited at a distance equal to twice of the height of the building, then these structures will have no adverse or ill effects.

8. A door below the floor level will have adverse effects on the occupants. The occupants will either become addicts or live in miserable conditions.

9. Before installation, the door frame should be treated with some fragrant substances (such as Sandal Wood paste) and offer salutations.

10. The doors and windows should have some specific proportions with their respective sizes and they should always be even in number, in each case.

11. In case there are two external doors, they should be in the East and West for maintaining good conditions.

12. A door should never be towards the South. If there is no alternative, then it should be in conformity with all the concerned rules and conditions of Vastushastra.

Basement (Cellar)

Basements are converted into storage areas for shops, stores etc. The sitting of such cellars plays a significant role in maintaining prosperity of the owner as well as residents of the said building.

A few observations are given below :

1. If a cellar is to the South of the building, the owner suffers a lot of calamities.

2. A tenant residing in the South-West part of the building with a cellar towards the South, will face problems of some sort or another all the time.

3. A cellar situated to the West of a building creates obstacles for the owner continuously.

4. Cellar in a building situated at South-East, South-West or North-West should always be used for storage of heavy goods or for car parking.

5. A basement or cellar to the East or North of the building is absolutely good.

6. A shop-keeper having a shop in a basement on the Southern side, will never prosper in his business. Such a shop-keeper will always be in some trouble. There is also a possibility that such a shop owner dies due to an accident.

Wash basin and water tanks

As per Vastushastra wash basin should be placed in the East. However it is not possible or practicable, the same can be placed on the North side.

Water Tank

Whenever there is neither a well nor a boring, install a water reservoir in the form of tank, either on the ground floor or below the ground or at the top on the terrace.

The water tank below the ground should be installed either on the East or on the North-East.

The water tank on the terrace should be kept either on the North or on the North-West side.

Under any circumstances, the water tank should not be placed on the South-East side. The owner of the plot always suffer, if there is a water tank placed on the South-West side. There should not be any dirty water allowed to remain stagnant on the same side. So also there should never be any flow of dirty water on the North-East side.
