The Great Khali

"I am not going to USA for life time. Average career of wrestlers like me is about 8-10 years and we have to earn during that period only. After that I will say goodbye to USA. " These are the words of Khali alias Dalip Sinh of India.

Since last 3 years, he is a wrestler from USA based WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment). Most of the TV channels world wide telecast this fight, TV shows on this theme and gambling puts this business to millions. Such wresting is for entertainment. Many believe that these fights are fixed like cricket in our country. In this type of fight, no rules bind the players. They attack opponent with anything they find nearby. There are many cases when even referee is beaten. This fight is more popular among children.

His height is 7 ft 3 inches or 213 cms. He born in Dhariya of District Simor of Himachal Pradesh. For bread and butter for his family of 6 brothers-sisters and parents, he did a job of watchman, too. Police head of Punjab took him to Punjab and appointed him as a hawaldar, There he has to play and brighten the name of Punjab Police. He tried Basket Ball and failed. Then he tried body-building and he succeed. He was awarded Mister India in 1995 and 1996.

In 2000, Punjab Police sent him to USA for training of wrestling and since then he is there. There he didn't try to earn $s during the training and concentrated on the game. Then WWE contacted him. He believes in Kali Mata and he was named "The Great Khaali" which is now pronounced as Khali (instead of Khaali).

His first wrestling was on 21st April, 2006 and defeated Funaki. Within a month, he defeated world champion. He defeated 20 wrestlers before being the world heavyweight champion in 2007. He acted in a Hollywood movie, The Longest Yard." and spoke fluent English. He didn't know ABCD when he went to USA, now he can speak English with American accent, but he can't understand English spoken by Indians.

Besides Wrestling, he likes American Football and Cricket.

He was invited for IPL match, too.

He is married to USA born Punjabi girl Harminder Kaur, who is 2 ft. shorter than him.

Indian Wrestler Dara Sinh says the foreign wrestling is a mock and he challenged Khali to fight with Indian wrestlers.

IPL : Will team Owners be losers ....?

Liquor baron Vijay Mallya has recently kicked out CEO of his team Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) Charu Sharma.

Mallya purchased Bangalore team franchisee for Rs. 446 Crore and paid Rs. 21.60 Crore for the 14 cricketers. After investing this amount, Mallya is looking for outside sponsorships to lessen his financial burden. But due to weak performance of the team, no one will come forward for the sponsorship, For one season sponsorship, the fund required is in range of 12 - 20 Crore and naturally no one will pay this sum for a weak team.

So will Vijay Mallya loser ? Right.

No wrong.

But he has to wait for more period compared to other owners.

First of all, all the owners have paid the franchisee fee for 10 years. Mallya has paid more as compared to Mohali and Jaipur teams. But as sports and business were blended for the first time in India, there was no price tag for any franchisee or any cricketer.

Second high profile franchisee is owned by Shahrukh Khan with co-promoters Juhi Chawla and her husband Jay Mehta. His team Kolkatta Knight Riders (KKR) has got 6 sponsors and two more sponsors - Airtel and Hyundai are in pipeline. King Khan has utilized his relations with international brands like Tag Heuer, Nokia etc. This is the only team which will hit break-even or may make some profit.

But other teams may incur loss during 2-3 seasons. But the franchisees are optimistic due to the response to IPL. It has created new viewers as women and children.

Most of the corporate houses didn't bid for the franchisee as they were not sure about the success of IPL. Now when the format is accepted all over the world, they are in the queue with money in hands to buy franchisee rights from the owners. Day by day, popularity of IPL will be on rise and franchisee rights can be sold at higher price.

After 3 years, franchisee can sell teams' stake. The team will be valued as per its performance. But few companies are interested in buying the rights.

So after 3 - 4 years, the owners will be earning quite a huge amount. The franchisee fees that they have paid is very negligible. But for earning good profit, performance will be must.

Unfair bank charges

It is observed that each bank charges differently and RBI does not have any control on them.

Cheque book is charged Rs. 0.50 to 3.00 per cheque.
Every six months folio charges are charged by bank, which vary from Rs. 1 to 3 per transaction.
Non-maintenance of minimum balance charges vary from Rs. 25 / month to Rs. 300 per month.

At least we know one co-operative bank which charges with service tax comes to Rs. 112.46 per day. Accumulatively if you can't maintain the balance for a month, you have to pay 112.46 x 30 days = 3373.80. Do you know what is the minimum balance that should be maintained in current a/c of that bank ? It's just Rs. 2000.00 (Rupees Two Thousand only).

So on failing to keep a balance of Rs. 2000, you have to pay Rs. 3373.80 as penalty. And this penalty is on the amount which you have utilized from balance in your account. It's not a loan from the bank.If you calculate the interest rate then it comes to approximately 150 % per month and 1800 % per year.

How RBI or the Bank will justify above charges. Though RBI can't control banks, there should be some upper limit for all types of charges. Even if the cheque is returned by mistake on bank's side, the party is charged with the penalty and to get the entry reversed, party has to go to the bank for at least 4-5 times.

Will you like to know the name of the bank, it is Veershaivya Co-operative bank operative in Mumbai and is having 6 branches.

If you have any such problems with your bank, let India know it, comment here or write an article on our blog.

Terrorism turned pink city into red

HuJI accepted the responsibility for Jaipur blasts and email was sent to media with video clippings to prove themselves.

I think people are intelligent enough to know that there is never attack on same city once it has been striked. It is always another city in some other part of country.
______________________________________________________________
(Police released sketch of Jaipur blasts' suspect on 14-05-2008.
Police released more sketches of Jaipur blasts' suspect on 15-05-2008)
In 1876, Jaipur was dressed pink to welcome Prince Albert & Queen Elizabeth II, & thus got the name Pink City.

Terrorists struck for the first time in Jaipur, and triggered 7 serial blasts in just 12 minutes on 13-05-2008 in crowded markets area of Jaipur and claimed at least 85 lives and injured more than 200.

Low intensity explosions which were suspected to have been set off from the cycles parked in the area.

The blasts took place at Tripolia Bazar, Johari Bazar, Manas Chowk, Badi and Chhoti Choupal. All these areas are in a radius of 2 kms. In all there were 7 blasts. One bomb was defused. Some of the victims were thrown several feet up in the air.

Bombay and Delhi set on high alert after the blasts at Jaipur.

Most of the terrorists attacks are on civilians and not on Ministers, and even then they get more security. Police force in any city of India is less than required and many of them are engaged for security to ministers. Do not provide security to ministers and many police will be free to do their duties. Indira Gandhi, Rajeev Gandhi were killed in terrorists' attack. Prime ministers should be given the protection because they have to take some decisions which may disappoint a class of people and they may attack. Most of the ministers who get security are not famous in their area, why any one will attack on them.

Blasts in Mumbai, Delhi etc. take place again and again, how many are arrested and punished? Very few.

We are at mercy of terrorists, if they want to kill us, no one can save us. After 9/11, no terrorist attack is reported in USA. In India, they attack again and again. Why ?

When will we get a Prime Minister like Narendra Modi (why not himself???), who can fight back terrorism? Let's hope.........

Big cities of China, Vietnam and Thailand even experienced the jolts. Army is called for rescue.

China is located in one of the most active seismic regions of the world and has been hit by numerous destructive earthquakes. The most significant of these earthquakes, in terms of lives lost, was that occurred in 1556. Later in 1975 and 1976, 2 earthquakes hit China. Following is brief account.

Tangshan is an industrial city 95 miles East of Beijing. The earthquake of magnitude 8 on Richter Scale struck, it was early morning and the city was fast asleep. The force of the quake motion was so that people were thrown in the air. Bridges, roads, homes, factories nothing was spared.

Haicheng, a town of about 1,00,000 inhabitants, in the Liaoning province of North-East China, experienced a quake of magnitude 7.3 on 04-02-1975. Based on studies of precursor events and unusual animal behavior (particularly of snakes, as snakes are termed as the most sensitive to earthquakes), warning was declared by local authorities and most of the population was evacuated to safer place. The life lost was less in this earthquake, but property damage was very high.

Earthquake hit in 1556 was the worse natural disaster in terms of lives lost. This quake in Hausien in the Shensi province of China. The earthquake devastated 98 counties and 8 provinces of Central China. The quake spanned an area of 500 miles (approx 805 Kms)and the average death toll was 60 % of population of the provinces. 8,30,000 lives were lost. The magnitude was estimates above 8 on Richter Scale (as instruments were not able to measure this magnitude, it was estimated.)

Agni - 3 test-fired

Agni - 3
------------
  • Height 16 meter.
  • Weight 48,000 Kgms.
  • Can carry warheads weighing up to 1500 Kgms.
  • In II world war, Germany used missiles for the first time to attack France and England.
  • China has missiles with a range of 11000 kms and Agni - 3 is with a range of 3000 kms.
  • Now India will develop Agni - 5, with a range of 5000 Kms. and will be really inter-continental missile.
  • It is a ballistic missile.
  • The highest speed it achieved during the experiment was 4 kms / second.
Updated on 18-05-2008

__________________________________________________________________

It was an auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya as per Indian calendar when India tested its Agni - 3 missile, surface-to-surface longest-range and nuclear capable, successfully and India registered its name proudly in the list of nations that have intermediate-range ballistic missiles (IRBM).

With its 3000 km range, it is a mobile system capable of being launched from anywhere in India. Its range includes all parts of South Asia including all major cities of China.

Agni - 3 is capable of carrying warheads weighing up to 1.5 tonnes.

The all solid fuel missile Agni - 3 was tested at 9:56 AM from the Inner Wheeler Island at Dhamra, a launch site in Bhadrak district, about 200 km from Bhubaneshwar, capital of Orissa.

The missiles reached its target in 800 seconds, reaching a pick height of 350 Kms, with a velocity of more than 4 Kms / second. The missile re-enters the atmosphere at very high velocity and then faces a deceleration of more than 35 times the force of gravity, raising its temperature above 2500 degrees Celsius. The payload is protected by a carbon-carbon all composite heat shield.

Agni - 3, one of the Agni series missiles, is a two stage solid propellant missile with a length 17 meters, diameter of 2 meters and launch weight of 50 tonnes.

While Agni - 1 is a 750-800 km short-range missile, Agni - 2 has a range of more than 1500 Km. Both have already been inducted into the armed forces.

At least 200 scientists witnessed Wednesday's test. They included V.K. Saraswat, chief controller DRDO and Avinash Chandra, director of the Agni-III program.

The success of Agni - 3 paves the way for India to build its truly intercontinental range missiles Agni - 4 with a range of 5000 Km in the near future.

Let's hope, we need not use it, and if used, should be used in defense and not to attack.

India is net exporter of food, Mr Bush

Bush says rising prosperity in India's huge middle class is the cause of pushing up food price. The same type of statement was given by Foreign minister of USA, Condoleezza Rice who had stated "...apparent improvement in the diets of people in India and China and consequence food export caps is among the causes of the current global food crisis....."

Price of any product increases when demand is more than supply, rise in price of raw material and transportation.

  • Why the demand of food is on increase ?
Mainly increase in population has resulted in increase in demand. Air, water and food are the main necessity of any living animal, birds, creatures or human beings. Indian middle class people are richer and demanding better nutrition, then that is their right. Now the population in all over the world has increased and that of India and China also is increasing.

  • Why the supply is reduced ? and prices of raw material and transportation.
Due to increase in prices of fertilizers and petrol / diesel has increased the cost of food and the farmers have to pass it on to the consumers. And as they don't get enough profit, their new generation is not interested in farming. Huge quantity of the food is used to prepare ethanol, a bio-fuel. This is like milking a cow to feed a dog. To cope up with the requirement of petrol, we are using the food to convert into a fuel. After few years, petrol crisis may not be there, food crisis will be. Petrol consumption is higher in USA because even the poor (below the middle class) have cars. The carbon dioxide has made holes in ozone layer, which in turn has changed the climate drastically, resulting in less production of food. So in this point USA is culprit and not India. AND INDIA IS NET EXPORTER OF FOOD AND NOT IMPORTER.

India's requirement of good nutrition is essential for survival, but the USA people are using car for their luxury. Mr. Bush, we are used to take food in plate, which we can eat. We do not waste food. USA wastes the most. Food packets before expiry date are thrown in the waste bin without opening them.

Each Indian consumes about 178 kg of grain in a year, while a US citizen consumes 1,046 kg according to figures released by the US Department of Agriculture for 2007.

Mr. Bush, please, think before you speak.
