Maharashtra Government

Today I had come across a news stating that a farmer committed suicide because he didn't get the payment for his land acquired by Maharashtra Government.

The farmer, Subhash Patil, is a resident of village Garakheda - Shiwar of taluka Pachora of Jalgaon, Maharashtra, In 1999, the Government acquired 2.50 acre of Subhash Patil's land to construct a dam. Read again the last sentence it is in 1999 and the current year is 2008. Wandering here and there for the payment, he tired and to get attention of the Government, he with his family started hunger strike on April 14.

Till April 24, after 10 days of the strike, neither the police nor the Government took any action. in the frustration, finally he committed suicide. His son gathered the public and he was taken to hospital. He is charged by police of attempt to commit suicide. Note that there are other farmers in the same boat.

Now few questions will arise in innocent readers of this article:

  • Any person when makes an agreement of purchase / sell, the purchaser gets the possession after paying the full payment to the seller. In this case, the purchaser is the Government and sellers are farmers. Why didn't the Government paid the amount to the farmers on acquisition of the land. Were they facing scarcity of money. Couldn't they manage for such a long period. The period is enough for any businessman to settle the payment.
  • It may happen that they had forgotten to make the payment as they had to do lot of other works too. But didn't they realise even after the farmers were on hunger strike ?
  • OR The poor farmers are not aware of the system that to get the payment from the Government, a transaction below the table has to be done before the transaction over the table.

Speed of computer

If you feel your computer has become slower than it was, then it may be facing a problem. Try this, it may solve the problem. Before going to the solution of the problem, let's understand the problem first.

Whatever work we do on computer, we save it in different types of files. After saving the file, whenever we reopen it and save again after changing its content. When we edit a file. its size varies. may be more or less than original size. If the file-size is smaller than the previous, then the given space for the file remains partly blank as the new file size can not occupy the full space. When we create a new file, the computer utilizes such small spaces to store new file.

If the edited file bigger than the file can not be stored fully on the same space computer divides into parts, one of which is saved on the space and other parts are saved somewhere on the hard disk.

Thus any file may be saved in parts or technically known as fragments. When we open a file, different parts of the file are searched and collected together and then displayed on our screen. It takes time to collect the information and display, though in fractions of second.

So now you know, if we can put all parts of a file together, then we can speed up the computer. To put then together or defragment files. Fortunately with Windows, you get the software to defragment.

To defragment follow the procedure below :

Go to : Start >> All Programs >> Accessories >> System Tools >> Disk Defragmenter

Select the hard disk drives like C or D and click defragment.

Hopefully speed of computer will increase.

Zimbabwe and Inflation

Inflation rate in India is between 7 and 8, the price hike in all the grains is more than 20 % compared to last year's figures at the same time. Suppose the inflation figure touches to 165000 % what will happen ?

Though this will not happen in India, it has happened in Zimbabwe. Yes, in Zimbabwe the inflation rate is world record high of 165000 %, and it is increasing 64320 % every month. When the inflation is more, the purchase power of that currency decreases. In Zimbabwe the currency is known as Zimbabwe Dollar and written as Z$. A person with Lacs of Z$s is living under poverty line. Because to buy one cigarette (and not packet), one needs 6 Lac Z$. One toilet paper costs 8 Lac Z$. A packet of bread costs 2.50 crore Z$.

In Zimbabwe earning of poor family may be 10 crore Z$, but with this money one can buy only bread-milk for 8 days. A shopkeeper doesn't give bill for the purchase as the same costs him 5 Lac Z$.

The buying power of Z$ is going down so sharply that in a week the value of Z$ gets reduced to half.

The Government used to print new notes whenever needed and result of which is that now Government has no money to buy grains, gas and petrol from the international market.

25 % of the total population of 120 Lac migrated to nearby countries. For 1 US $ you will get 2.50 crore Z$.

Diamonds

In the depth of the Earth under high temperature and pressure carbon changes to graphite or diamond. Carbon is very soft (in coal form) and diamond is a hard substance. It's a time consuming process and may take thousand of years.

Artificial diamonds were made, but its cost was very high. But nowadays artificial diamonds are made at cheap rates and are harder than real diamonds.

Diamond is quite costly and so is used for making ornaments. In India, diamonds are used in ornaments if and only if it doesn't contain black spot or crack. it is believed that diamonds may be lucky to some person may be unlucky for others. So before making ornaments from diamonds, during night they are kept under pillow for 2 days and if nothing goes wrong then they are used for the same.

For selecting diamonds for ornaments, one has to check 4 qualities of diamond namely Colour, cut, clarity and carats, popularly known as 4 C's.

Colour : White or colourless diamonds are the best and fetches more price too. When white diamonds are fitted in Gold, it gives the best brightness. But some coloured diamonds are also preferred because of its rarely available colour. Coco-cola coloured diamond is one of them. Because of the scarcity, it fetches more price than equivalent white diamond.

Cut : Best cut diamonds reflect the light more. When a diamond is cut, all its faces should be equal. The illiterate cutter shapes the diamond with all the facets equally. Brilliance of the diamond depends on the cut.

Clarity : If a good cut diamond has some inclusion like black spots or if it has a flaw then the diamond is priced less and is not advisable to use in ornaments.

Carats : Carat is a unit of weight by which diamond is measured. 1 gram equals 5 carats. Each carat is again divided into 100 cents. More the carat (or more the size), it is more valuable.

But the use of diamonds is not limited to making ornaments only. Actually about 1 % of the total production is used in ornaments. Due to its stiffness diamonds are used in many industries mainly to cut other metals, non-metals. It is mainly used in cutting tools made for different industries. In rich countries like America, it is used in belts of dogs and name plate. Its different uses are in cutting, drilling, grinding and polishing.

Salient points to be noted are :

  • Leave more open space towards North, East and Northeast of the plot.
  • Garage should be placed in the East, North or Northeast.
  • Ancillary building should never be attached to Eastern or Northern walls.
  • The roof should never slope towards North, East or Northeast directions.
  • Washing area should never be placed towards Northeast or Southwest directions.
  • There should be more windows towards East and North.
  • Northeast and Southeast corners should have at least 90 degree. Angle less than 90 degree can be accepted as an exception as far as Northeast in concerned but under no circumstances, an angle less than 90 degree be provided towards Southeast.
  • Never make kitchen towards Northeast.
Well or bore well :

To get sweet water for the life time, one should start work for excavating a well or bore well during the presence of certain nakshatras (constellations) in the sky.

Auspicious nakshatras are :
  1. Hansa
  2. Pushya
  3. Dhanishtha
  4. Anuradha
  5. Uttara
  6. Uttarashadha
  7. Shatataraka
  8. Magha
  9. Uttarbhadrapada
  10. Rohini
One should never commence construction of a well on Tuesday.

An ideal well should have a depth ranging from 40 to 400 ft. A small well having depth less than 60 ft. should have a diameter less than 6 ft.

A well dug in the North, West or southeast side of a plot will give positive effects, whereas if it is dug in Northwest or South direction it will give adverse effect.

If the well is dug in the center of the plot, total destruction of wealth in the house is expected.

Mother

When a mother takes her child for vaccination, when the needle is inserted into body of the child, it troubles the mother first. Even after the child is out from the womb, mother remains connected throughout his / her life. Though the mother shows her feelings by means of touching or looking with love, or speaking, but for that the child need not be nearby. However away from child, mother's good wishes are always with the child.

With this article, I do not ignore what the father does for a child, but I admire what the mother does for a child.

Mother can never be cruel, but child's well-being is always in her heart. For the same she may have to scold, beat the child. But after beating the child, she feels uneasy for the full day. She can never be happy when the child is uncomfortable.

A mother is biological female parent of a child, and raising of the child is mainly dominated by mother. Even the God is in the favour of mother. The God has made structure of body such that only female (in all types of animals, creatures, birds etc.) can give birth to a child and get automatically attached more to the child.

Mother gives everything to child throughout his/her life without any expectation. Now-a-days when parents are sent to old age homes, the Father complains, Mother doesn't.

Even step mother can not be as cruel as is shown in movies. Yashoda and Krishna is the best example.

Is she rewarded for what she does for the child ?

Laxmibai staying with her daughter-in-law Darshana and grand son Vinay. Darshana and Vinay beat Laxmibai who is 90 years old. Her married daughters are ready to keep their mother with them.

Doctors : Are you so cheap ?

  • An income-tax officer takes money from you even if your accounts are complete and perfect.
  • A car mechanic advices you to replace a part in your car which is not damaged.
  • A mobile company charging you for the calls you have not made.
  • A doctor takes money or sponsored foreign trips with family from pharmacy companies to prescribe non-standard medicines to you.

In all the instances above, everything is a cheating, but in the first 3 instances, it costs you money only and not your life. But in the doctor's case it costs your and / or your family members including the kids. Please let me be clear, I do not support anyone from the above instances, but can forgive others but not doctors.

We respect our family doctors and trust them. And the circle starts from there only. It's a common system that the family doctor asks to take some reports and gives a paper with the doctor's name and which reports are supposed to be taken. The doctor gets commission for giving clients to the laboratory. And it is acceptable as it costs us money only. But on the reports the doctor (Family doctor on specialist) prescribe us medicines which may not be needed or may not be useful to cure our disease.

On an average every family doctor checks about 100 patients daily charging about 50 Rs each aggregating Rs. 5000 a day. The specialists checks less patients but charges Rs. 300 - 1000 per patient. Do they need to get gifts or sponsored trips ? No, i don't think so. They can afford as the income itself is good enough.

Someone (preferably doctor) may argue that their study is so expensive, they have to do so. I agree. But they are earning approximately minimum 10000 per day. Those surgeons takes 1-1.50 lac for complex surgery and if the hospital pays him just 30 % it comes to 30-50 thousand per surgery.

The pharma companies know their products are not so useful and so they follow such tricks. if they are confident about their product, then send a representative to doctors and explain the chemical structure of medicine and how it will be useful in a particular disease.

Study shows that only 1 % of medicines available in market are actually needed, others are not useful or not needed.

In Jain philosophy, killing the smallest insects is not allowed, Jain doctors are killing humans. Many NGOs fight for saving animals. It is also necessary. But none of the NGOs, as far as I know is working for this. In my opinion, doctors are law-obeying persons. If the Government takes strict steps, most of the doctors may stop accepting gifts from the pharma companies. But our ministers are more corrupted.

One more act where doctors are sinfully involved is sex determination and killing the female infant in the womb. If doctors stop doing sex determination then killing will be stopped automatically.

I do not say every doctor is involved in both acts as mentioned above. But there are lot of. i, hereby appeal to the doctors to stop such activities. I know the whole system will go on, but if few doctors can withdraw themselves, even then it is OKAY. I hope this at least from Jain doctors.

Cricket

Venue: Motera stadium of Ahmedabad
Teams - India and South Africa

Match Type : Test Match ( 03rd April 2008 - 07th April 2008)
_____________________________________________________
India had won the toss and decided to bat. On the very first day, in the first inning all the Indian players were out for just 76 runs (including 19 extra, the team made only 57 runs) in 20 overs. And on the same pitch on the same day SA did 223 runs in 64 overs by lost of 4 wickets only. That means pitch was not so bad, but it was mistakes of Indian players. It was a very hot day. 9 players who didn't cross double figure were Jafer, Sehwag, Dravid, Laxman, Ganguli, Kumbale, Harbhajan, R P Singh, Shreesant. Ganguli, Kumbale, R P Singh and Shreesant were out for a duck. Six players missed the ball to get clean bowled, so can't blame umpires.
  • It is for the fourth time that SA has out the opponent team below 100 runs.
  • 9 players did single digit score and this has happened 7 times before.
  • India's first 50, of which 17 runs were extra,came out of 12.5 overs.
  • South Africa's first 50 was from 9.4 overs.
  • After winning the toss and selecting batting SA all out for 36 runs against Australia in 1932.

Become Vegetarian.

One questions for those who are eating non-vegetarian food for strength : Which is the strongest animal ? The answer is vegetarian Elephant and not non-vegetarian Tiger or Lion.

What is common among Pluto, Newton, Amitabh Bachchan, APJ Abdul Kalam and Mallika Sherawat ? They are vegetarians. Now-a-days many famous personalities are shifting from non-vegetarians to vegetarians. Intellectuals in the world are of the opinion now that vegetarian is the best food. Vegetarian food keeps body and mind healthy.

Kareena Kapoor has turned to vegetarian for keeping her beauty intact. Now even doctors suggest for vegetarian foods and are of the opinion that non-vegetarian foods increased bad cholesterol in the body. It invites blood pressure and heart attack. A chemical in the non-vegetarian foods develops cancer and increases fats which results in the diabetes. Angry nature of a person may be due to its food.

Under influence of yoga and yogaguru like Baba Ramdev, Deepak Chopra and Bharat Thakur lakhs of foreigners are also leaving non-vegetarian food habits. In America and London hotels serving only vegetarian foods are opened.

Jains are the best follower of vegetarian food. Most of the jains can't think of killing innocent animals.

When animals are killed , they are feared and their blood turns poisonous. Even infected animals are also killed for mutton. Even the God has made us vegetarian. The intestines of non-vegetarian animals are small and those of human beings are long. Enzymes required to digest the non-vegetarian food are also not seen in human beings.

BE VEGETARIAN.

Crematorium - Visit when you are live

It is an electrical crematorium located in Ramnath Para area of Rajkot on the banks of river Nyari (Rajkot is a city of Gujarat, and in Gujarati "Nyari" means "Different" or "Hat ke"). Its area is 12000 yards. It is managed and maintained by Sargam Club of Rajkot. It is named MUKTI DHAM. It was conceived by architect Vinod Makhesana who received he Journal of Indian Institute of Architects 2003 award for its design.

The place was donated by Vajubhai Wala and Gunvantbhai Delawala and expenses for developing it was donated by Kumarpal Shah who is a Jain businessman and issued lot of cassettes on Jain Stavanas. In the year 2000 when Sindhuben , Kumarpal's wife died, while returning from the crematorium kumarpal decided to give that a new look with a theme of strength of women. As mother of Jain God Mahavirswami saw 14 things in her dream while she was pregnant, the temples on entrance of the crematorium are 14. The entrance to the crematorium is known as the Pearl Gates. It was decided to apply the same theme to all the temples for the uniformity. The idols in the temples are from different religions. Idols of queen of Jhansi Laxmibai, Mahatma Gandhi and Putalibai, Sitaji and Lav-Kush, Jain Guru Hemachandracharya and mother Pahinidevi, Shrimad Rajchandra and mother Daivba, Shivaji and Jijabai, Krishna and Yashoda, Shravan and his parents, Jain God Adinath and marumata are there.

It has 2 electric pyres besides conventional crematorium where wood logs are used for cremation. Mukti Dham has a library in which spiritual and religious books are there visitors can read them. It has three umbrella rest points which shelter the visitors from heat and rain. The pillars of umbrella rest points are decorated with statues of deities. There are step gardens in Mukti Dham which adds to the beauty of the place with its colourful flowers and tender shrubs. The place also has an air-conditioned prayer hall which can accommodate up to 200 people.
