BMC (Bombay Municipal Corporation) had given a contract to Hyderabad based M/s Indian Immunologicals Ltd. to supply anti rabies vaccines of Rs. 10.15 crore (6,38,000 doses at Rs. 159.12 per dose) from 01-01-2006 to 31-12-2007.
But after supplying 83,185 doses, company failed to supply remaining quantity. Observe the figures, the company managed to supply 83,185 doses only from the order of 6,38,000 doses i.e. it could supply 14 percent only. Result of this was scarcity of vaccine and BMC black-listed the company and started buying it from open market. Then again BMC issued tenders. It was decided to buy the vaccine from M/s Bharat Biotech International at Rs. 219.96 again the quantity was the same as in previous case i.e. 6,38,000. But it couldn't pass the technical tests.
But if the BMC buys vaccine at 219.96, it has to spend approximately Rs. 4 crore more.
Now BMC has turned to M/s Indain Immunolgicals Ltd and decided to order the same quantity for 18 months instead of 24 months when order was given for the first time.
The company is given order of the same quantity for a shorter period that means the production capacity of the company should be increased by 6-7 times, which though is not impossible but is difficult surely.
Aries begins at the equinoctial, on the 21st of March and extends to the 19th of April. All persons borne between these dates belong to that function of grand body of humanity - the head. The use of the head in the natural world is to think, to reason: therefore these persons are natural reasoners and thinkers. Their brain always remains busy, and is the most active function of their body. They are natural lovers of scientific thought, reasons, philosophy and of educational pursuits are independent characters and have their own ideas of right and wrong. The only way they can be controlled is thought their reason. They are apparently stubborn; but this is only apparent however.
These persons, if required to do work in the same manner as someone else, are always thrown into confusion. They must do everything in their own way that is they must first have an understanding of what they are doing, and what the thing is to be when accomplished, and then left to accomplish it according to their own methods; otherwise they get confused. They do not opt to be mechanics. Again the function of the head is to keep the whole body in harmony and for that reason harmony is dominant feature of their nature. They love order, elegance and beauty and as a rule, they like large, spacious rooms with plenty of light and air. They are great lovers of music and of dancing. Very commonly, as soon as music is heard, the life forces start within them, and it is hard for them to keep still. They have a great deal of the electrical fire nature in them, and their atmosphere is full of motion and active, heat-producing elements. Every disease that attacks them always goes to their head, because their nature is such that they are using up the forces through the brain constantly, as this is the leading function of their beings, therefore, everything that affects their head, because of this, they are liable to disease and inflammation of the brain more than any other persons.
Excitement and worry nearly always produce sick-headache, and sometimes derangement of their digestive organs: quiet, rest and sleep are the best medicines. Children in teething, that are born in this sign, should have great care to keep their brain cool.
Harmony is absolutely necessary to the health of all persons born in this sign. Middle-aged persons that have an over amount of vitality are liable to paralysis. Females who are very stout are especially in danger when they pass the menopause of life. These persons usually adapt themselves to the habits and customs of society and they love to excel in whatever they undertake and to be the head. It is very difficult for them to serve in subordinate capacities.
This nature is the result of a very harmonious mental and physical condition on the part of parents, with minds very active on thoughts and study.

Tuberculosis (T.B.) is an airborne disease caused by bacteria which was first isolated in 1882 by German physician named Robert Koch. But in Ayurveda (which is written before hundreds of year) T.B. is described very well in details. In Ayurveda T.B. is of 6 types depending upon the organ of body is infected. (Like this, Ayurveda has also described HIV in details). These bacteria develops in dirty and dense area very rapidly. These bacteria generally attack lungs, but any organ of the body can be affected. The bacteria can get into the air when someone with T.B. infection coughs, sneezes, shouts or spits. people nearby possibly inhale the infected air.
Symptoms : Our body is made up of small cells, which bacteria of T.B. destroys resulting in thinness. T.B. infection usually occurs initially in the lungs. If the immunity system fails to stop reproductions of bacteria then the person gets infected. Symptoms that occur are tiredness or weakness, loss in weight, fever and sweats at night. In the advanced stage symptoms can include coughing, chest pain, coughing up of blood and shortness of breath.
Now-a-days T.B. is totally curable, provided the patient completes the course of treatment. For the treatment patient need not be admitted to hospital. Just taking antibiotics regularly for 6-9 months will cure the disease.
Climate of Saurashtra (part of Gujarat) in India is the best for curing T.B. A 776-bed hospital built by Late King of Bhavnagar at Jithari is now about to shut down because of lack of patients. (Photo : Above)
Though the disease is totally curable, in India every year 3.50 lac dies because of T.B.
Vastu shashtra is a philosophical and religious method of leading a cultured way of life. Creation of vastu requires a definite planning, keeping in view as to what effect the occupant will have on his mind, body and prosperity when he starts residing therein with the family. While creating vastu all aspects such as Philosophical, religious, Astronomical, Astrological, Geographical and Geological, Cosmological are taken into consideration to its minute details. Topography of the land and its surroundings, such as rivers, mountains, other structures, roads, trees etc. is also taken into consideration.
Selection of Land :
The plot of land which has capability of growing fruits, medicinal herbs or crops is always considered to be good piece of land. As against this, the presence of certain types of trees, thorny shrubs always have adverse effect.
A very simple test whether the land is good or not. Dig a knee-deep pit on the site and then refill the same with the same excavated material. if the back filled material spills over the pit, then the site will bring riches to the purchaser. If it levels out, the purchaser can expect an average life-style. If it fails to level then the purchaser will encounter a lot of hardships and mishaps.
From the day of purchase of a plot till the completion of the construction, any growth of Cactus, Carvanda, Pongara, Tembhurni, Aghada should be totally destroyed and removed. Such trees or plants should never be planted within the site not should they used as fencing.
If the land has a slope toward East, it gives tremendous prosperity to the purchaser. If the slope is toward North, it bestows a person with riches. If the slope is toward West, it will cause financial losses as well as academic failures. If the slope is toward South, it will cause death, destruction or grief in the family.
If the plot is rectangular, then the purchaser will always enjoy all round prosperity and wealth. If the North-South dimension is greater than East-West dimension then the land is extremely beneficial. If he owns a square plot, he will enjoy good wealth. A triangular plot can bring forth problems to the owner from government departments. Trapezium shaped plot brings all round prosperity. If the plot is circular, then permanent poverty will be experienced. Fear, sorrow and death prevails if the plot is with unequal sides or "Bow-shaped" plot. Loss of family members if the plot is "Drum-shaped". Never purchase a plot which is cut on North-East direction or which has no North-East corner. A plot is purchased between two bigger plots and if it is proportionately lesser in area, then the occupant will march toward poverty only.
A plot surrounded by roads from all the sides or three sides are good. A plot having adjacent roads to South and West or North and West will enjoy wealth and power and is excellent for traders or industrialists. A plot with adjacent roads to East and North with North-East direction rounded or plot having adjacent roads leading to East and South with South-East corner can be purchased after carrying out certain changes. All-round happiness is enjoyed, if the pot has adjacent roads to East and North.
Before we proceed, let us clarify some points. Share market will not always move as per our assumption or study. To be precise, it may move exactly opposite what we have assumed or studied. But it is safer to invest in different options of investing, so that the risk in a particular option is minimized to some extent. In such a volatile market, you may have started thinking of different option as compared to domestic share market. Besides many other options, investing in share markets abroad is one.
How to invest in foreign stocks :
In recent years RBI has reduced and yet reducing restrictions on Indians investing abroad offering a range of new investments. ICICI Direct and Reliance Money has allowed investors the option to invest in foreign stock markets. Both ICICI Direcr and Reliance Money allows to invest in US stock exchanged thro' collaboration with US broker. In US exchanges many MNCs also get listed. Reliance Money allows to trade in UK stock exchanges in addition to US stock exchanges. Both these brokerages also provide research and information services so that investors can make better informed choices.
But check following points before investing in foreign markets.
Foreign investments are taxed at a higher rate.
Must take into consideration movements in foreign exchange rates.
International transactions are costlier and complicated.
Research in foreign markets is major point. It may not move as per our domestic market.
To get rid of all these, you may invest in Indian Mutual funds which are investing in different foreign markets. The risk will be lowered and you will get benefit of aggressive research done by the Mutual Fund Team. You may start investing in MFs and after you become comfortable and bit experienced may start investing in individual stocks.
Gold price at its new high ? Will it sustain there ?
Gold has increased 15 % in last quarter. Gold has reached new high. But the main question is will it continue to grow to new heights or it's time for gold to decline ? For the answer we have to check the reasons for making gold so precious.
The reasons are :
It's now obvious that US is facing a recession, naturally US $ is weaker against other currencies. Globally share markets are very weak. So investors have turned to buy gold for investment. Crude prices are very high resulting in increase in price of gold. Till recession period in US is not over, global shar markets and US $ will remian weak, crude prices will be higher and that of gold, too.For domestic market, FM in his budget has risen the tax exemption limit. People will have more money which formerly they used to pay the tax. Now with this money most of people in India will go for savings. And gold is the best option of savings in India. So in my opinoin gold prices will hike more.
Insurance is good option of savings and coverage of life. In this article, we will talk about Life Insurance. Before a person purchase any policy or even call the agent to understand different policies the company offers. It may happen that either the agent may not understand the requirement or he / she may not give enough time to explain different types of policies.
There are four types of Life Insurance Policies.
1. Whole life policy.
2. Endowment policy
3. Term policy
4. Unit linked policy
1. Whole life policy :
In this type of policy, life coverage is for the whole life and premium payment period may be life long or for a limited period. LIC, the giant life insurance company, has considered the life of a policy holder to be 80 years. So in this policy, one will get money back on maturity i.e. at the age of 80 (with accrued bonus), or death whichever is earlier. In this types of policies, the premium may be less as the period of payment is more.
2. Endowment policy :
In this type of policy, we can decide the term of life coverage and premium payment i.e. monthly, quarterly, half yearly, yearly or one time payment. In this type of policy you get the money back at an earlier age as compared to whole life policy.
3. Term policy :
In this type of policy, only the life is covered. One doesn't get bonus on the policy and hence the premium is the lowest in such policy. This is the cheapest policy.
4. Unit linked policy :
This policy is transparent. The money collected thro' such policies is invested in equity or other type of investment. One can decide where one's money should be invested, and one can check the portfolio every quarter.
One should buy policies in such a way that till his earnings, he can pay more premiums and on retirement one gets good fund from the interest of which one can live smoothly. In my opinion, the best ratio is 70 % of term policies, 20 % endowment policies, 10 % whole life policies and 10 % unit linked policies. The ratio may change as per individual needs.
